Xpost: Need help with Marzocchi DJ II

I need some help with a 2003 DJ II. The newer Marzocchi manuals are of no help. Is there a special socket I need to buy to separate the lowers from the stanchions? Older Marzocchis used a 15 mm socket on the underside of each leg. The DJ looks like a 12 mm but the "relief" cut out area in the legs are too narrow in diameter for the socket to fit.

am I missing something or is there a special "thin walled" socket I need to buy? OR should I just "shave" open the hole that the bolts sit in?

Any help appreciated.

Yep, you will need a special socket. You can order one, marzocchi makes them. I just went down to the hardware store for one and then turned it down on a lathe here at work. You could also turn it down using a grinder if you have access to one.
i think it would be pretty ballsy to open up the hole on your fork... you should probably do that... it would probably be easier then trying to grind down tool steel (thats some HARD stuff and a grinder would not be happy after that job, but a leath might work). Your call...i'd think it would be easier to open the hole up though... and its only minorly dangerous to your fork.
What?

I ended up grinding down a socket. Works fine.

What does Minorly dangerous mean?
