Anyone have a list of XC or XC-ish(downcountry for a lack of a better term) trails? Looking to get my first modern XC bike & looking to see what trails are around the LA, SD, Ventura & OC areas? Thanks.

I'd copy and pasted what I posted in other thread here...

How many miles of trails are you looking for? And by XC trails, you mean strictly, singletrack trails, or are you ok with wider trails?

I can only speak for OC, but Fullerton loop is by far the most popular XC loop, although its more like urban XC. One loop is around 11 miles, 1k climbing.

Between Crystal Cove, Laguna Coast, and Bommer Canyon, you can connect the trails to create a decent XC ride. A lot more climbing in this area.

In the next month or two, I have a work trip out to LA in the San Fernando valley. Interested in doing a rental/demo for a day or two. Preferably within a couple hrs, but willing to travel for something must do.

I ride east coast, XC and trail stuff... not much enduro and zero bike park. Looking for something interesting, but enjoyable and within reach. Whatcha got for recommendations?

I see Worldwide Cyclery does demos (Revel and Yeti) not far in Newbury Park.

I've rented a Revel demo from Worldwide and it was easy, affordable, and a close drive to ride Space Mountain. I wouldn't call it XC, more of an all-mountain trail ride, a lot of sustained climbing out here esp for someone from the East Coast (as I am). But bigger climbs = bigger descents :) . I haven't yet traveled east to ride (will be this summer), but from my understanding it will be a totally different world of riding. Expect WAY less rocks, way more sand, and a lot more climbing. Just totally different.

Also, expect heat, perhaps a lot of heat, but no humidity.

Ah… I cut my mtb teeth in the woods an hour north of NYC and in New Jersey. No shortage of rocks in Pennsylvania. Have fun!
