X-Post from the Arizona forums... thought I would post here to prove I do mountain bike! Been without the NRS-3 for... 3 weeks this friday! *tear*

And I cant emphasize "great" enough...

Took out my old bike (green Boulder) but theres a pic of my new bike. Went of DC to near the Heli pad, went down and around, almost backtracked, went through a creek, got confused when I saw SoMo in front of me when I thought it was behind me, was getting really worried, then saw a "Tapestry Canyon: Private Community" sign and was releived. Anyways, heres some pics. I was solo, so no action shots:

(order is going from last to first)

The creek! This shot was interesting, there was a resorvoir higher than the creek... its sideways so turn your heads.

Im not used to seeing water on the trail... second time ive been to this creek, was a blast.

Looking behind me, that part is fast

Looking down on the trails... DC to the far right if you can see it. dont know what trail I was on. Heli pad was to the left of me if when taking this picture.

Another looking at the trails. Bottom left, trail I took to get there. Top right(ish) is DC again..

Just the beatiful AZ mountain/sunset scenery...

And another

And my new/real bike... the NRS3 looking out on DC followed by one of my favorite DC parts

Hope everyone else went out riding today... weather was PERFECT, only saw one other rider (if your on here, sorry I didnt yield to you. By the time I saw you, you had stopped for me).

You have no idea how much I would love to get out and ride some Forest or Field-like trails. Or smooth rock trails.. anything smooth and flowing. Those pics are select ones... most consist of gravel which shakes your bike, and many, MANY dips. But thanks, it was a nice, cool day to ride.

I'm surrounded by bush and elevation changes. Relentless sometimes. The bush is so overgrown on some singletrack you barely know where your going and then you stop dead in your tracks by some bush hanging on to your crank or handlebar. Cuts, cuts, slashes, blood my poor shins!
Sounds fun. My trails are all hills... I seriously cannot understand the meaning of flat except roads. Its either uphill or downhill. I would take the scratches if for fun. I get pretty beat up as well. You know... every few miles you see at tree. And every now and then that tree is in the middle of the trail. But I dont like dips, rapid elevation changes? No thank you. We can go from a point on a trail, up 50ft, then back down 100ft, down 200ft, up 150ft, down 50ft

But I LOVE my trails. Getting too easy though, if I can do these trails easy (and fast) on a Boulder... imagine what I can do on my NRS

er ar ees

What are the dips you don't like? Can you describe them?
About 20ft down, long technical climbs up. Ride Arizona, youll understand. On one particular trail, Desert Classic, there are lots of these dips. I like them on my NRS. Technical climbs? Fun!

sounds like those dips will keep you busy... how often do you encounter them?
Too often... the entire basis of one trail consists of these dips every 50 yards max.

That would be a royal nuisance after a few goes. Come to think of it, I never seem to ride a trail with much of a clean run either.
I would be lieing if I said it wasnt one of my favorite trails...

You ought to come to Phoenix some time, South Mountain is by far one of the best (right up there with Moab) places to ride XC in the country. I just find a trail, turn any which way, eventually get lost... its funner than anything. Yet I can still stick to one trail... and any trail I go on is fun. Consider coming here sometime in the future... and who knows? I could end up riding with you one of these days :p
