Sorry for the X-post, but figured you folks might be especially interested in this post I put up in Passion. BTW, I'm sure 29'er MOTY will have a frame on display in one of my fixtures at the show, eh Walt?

Who's going to the Handmade Bicycle Show?

Don't know if a lot of the general public has even heard about it, but the 2nd annual Handmade Bicycle Show (http://www.handmadebicycleshow.com)is going to be held in San Jose, CA on March 3-5. The Handmade show is the custom and boutique builder's version of Interbike and is a great chance to meet, greet, & drool over a lot of custom bikes. To the best of my knowledge, there has never been more custom and boutique builders in one place than what's planned for this show.

Lot's of your favorite builders will be displaying their best work. Here's a partial list of folks having bikes on display:

I had every intention to head up there but it falls on the same weekend as the Vision Quest.

I guess I could just drive up for friday....it would probably be worth it!

Yeah, I saw that too. I was actually planning on coming up and staying with my buddy in Carlsbad and riding the VQ that weekend, but I am really excited about this show and so is he, so we will probably end up going to the show.

What is the story with the "alternate date" for the VQ. Is that in case of rain or fire or permit problems or something?

I think I may try to fly straight into San Jose instead of meeting Dean in Carlsbad.

Do you know how far the drive is from the Carlsbad area to San Jose?

How was your TN trip?

Yeah, the alternate dates are used in case of rain, fire, snowstorms, swarms of locusts....etc. I don't think that we've ever had to use the backup dates but it's nice to have them in place.

The drive from Carlsbad is probably about 8 hours. I could be a bit off but probably not by more than an hour or two. It's a nice drive though, especially if you take your time and drive the coast as opposed to taking the inland route.

Let's plan a ride pre or post Bike Show/Vision Quest if you have a spare day.

The TN trip was awesome as usual. We took it easy, ate some great food, saw "Walk The Line", and went for a fun ride at Haw Ridge....perfect weekend when all was said and done(except for the parting ways bit)

I'm still trying to find a way to do the VQ and the show...we'll see.
