I was just installing my new x.9 derailuer and I confused by the lack of a spring in the upper pivot/mountain bolt withthe b-adjust bolt? Is that the way they are supposed to be? This is my first SRAM derail so I am used to Shimano stuff with a spring up there. It is shifting fine in the stand, I am just wondering.

That is exactly the way they are supposed to be. By not using the spring SRAM can keep the the derailleur from bouncing and more even tension on the chain.

happy trails...
