Only because the inner diameter on this rim is only 18mm.

I think from the Sheldon website, the maximum recommended for an 18mm width rim is only a 1.8" tyre but i have used this rim with a 2.1" and it is fine.

btw does the wtb weirwolf come in a 29er?
or is there another rim out there known as 'TK 7.1' that is a 26" rim?

Yes. It comes in 29"
