"The new Crankworx Downhill course, currently under construction by Gravity Logic, is designed to be unlike any other trail at Winter Park Resort. The Crankworx Downhill Course will be spectator-friendly, providing easy viewing at both the course's start and finish. Post Crankworx Colorado, the trail will remain as a staple in Trestle Bike Park and will be open to the public. Additionally, the Freelap timing system that will be put into place will remain available to riders post Crankworx Colorado."

Did I miss the memo on the Freelap system? How's it gonna work?

Hopefully it will be a set-up like Diablo. The course would have the transmitters (all different kinds are available), and the riders would just have to have either one of the bike mounted timers or watches. Very cool way to time things (especially if they'll put in multiple transmitters so that you can time splits on various parts of the course)

Best news out of winter park in awhile

I just rode the new trail Bear Arms and all I can say is wow. Super tight through the trees, lots of technical rock features, soooo much fun. ... My new favorite trail.
WHAT??? Tight trees, technical rocks??? That doesn't sound like a bermed jump trail [ that I don't care for]. That sounds more like what I like!
C'mon Joe, can you be more descriptive please?
Also, it looks like the olympia lift opens tomorrow, but no word yet on mtn. goat. What have you heard?
Thanks.

I'll check on Mtn. Goat for ya. Now Bear Arms isn't stupid tech, but there are 5 or 6 places where you roll a steep rock, get in the back seat, and squeeze between the trees. I banged my bars a couple of times. It's just a really cool trail, and far different from the rest of the trails here. I think the coolest feature is a really big rock (over head high if I recall correctly) that you ride up, and make a blind left turn over and then back down. You'll enjoy it.

I rode it on one of the demo Scott Gamblers with 30" bars and it was a close call on a couple of spots, but definitely doable.
Nothing gets the adrenaline pump going better than feeling the end of your bars burshing against a tree as you go by it :skep:

Everything accessible by the lifts in Trestle will be open tomorrow... maybe not upper Pipe Cut that is still buried in snow. So yes, Mt Goat - open

Walked the new Trestle DH yesterday...the flagging anyway. It will be epic.
