So I just get home from a night out around 9:45, and I'm on my front porch in my hammock, and in the distance I can hear some live music playing, and I remember the city is having that fest for the 4th weekend. So I think I'll go check it out.

Well up to this point a few beers have been enjoyed, I was still totally cool to drive, but think that the police will be on high alert since it is a holiday weekend, so I decide not to chance driving.

So I grab my bike... Why not, I got a light on it? I think, it's not that dark on the way, plenty of street lights. I should be ok, as long as I'm careful. I only rode about 2 miles, but kept up a 15.7 mph pace which I think is respectable considering it's night, I'm on a trail bike with fat soft tires, and It has been about 2 months since I rode, (I dislocated my shoulder playing football), so I've been out of the saddle for a while.

On the ride there, it hit me again just like it did the first time. I forgot how much fun it is just to get on a bike and ride. The speed, quick turns, the wind, and even the climbs. Wow! This is what it is all about!

yessiree...

I hear ya brother... In fact, i just came in from riding 15 miles (it's 11:30 pm as i write)... My work and family commitments make riding during the daytime a challenge...to say nothing of the brutal Georgia heat!

night riding on trails...just me, my bike and the critters... life is good!

bob~
Yes, the bike is so much more enjoyable.

Kudos for not driving but keep in mind the cops don't distinguish a DUI between biking and driving (at least not in my state).....not trying to be downer, you made a good decision and had fun to boot. Driving a bike instead of a 4000lb vehicle makes you virtually a non factor as far as being dangerous to others, too bad the law is so blind they don't care.....Just playing the reality game (booooo!)

:Sermon over: bike riding is fun!
