As the title asks: would you buy an Offering v1? Jensonusa has the v1 in large with a 150 fork and a pretty good spec (shimano XT). Can’t make up my mind if it’s worth it over an indefinite wait for either the v2 or some other bike.

I’ve got a fine bike at the moment so I’m not in a rush.

Offering v1 is pretty amazing ride. I have the v2 but a demo ride of the v1 is what sold me on changing over from my pivot switchblade.
Out of curiosity, how is the pedaling performance in your experience? I've watched a fair share of videos so I feel like I have a good idea, but real world responses that aren't media/youtubers is always nice. While I don't expect it to be an XC bike, not feeling like i'm slogging my way up due to high levels of squat is pretty important to me. The Ibis/Pivot DW Link stuff is pretty highly regarded in this aspect, but they're not really on my list at the moment.

I'm biased, but I'm on an Offering V1 with 150mm fork and I am in no rush to "upgrade" - the changes from V1 to V2 weren't major, and for me, the internal routing isn't necessarily an improvement. My V1 still rides as well as it did on day 1..

It does not pedal as well as a 2020 Switchblade as I used to own that bike. That being said it pedals almost as well, very close and not enough to bother me. It goes down significantly better than the Switchblade. I think Evil bikes are all around just more fun than other bikes and they pedal great to boot.

I just sold my Offering V1 and went to a Stumpy Evo. I loved the Offering and if I ordered the XL instead of the L I would still be riding it as the L was a touch on the small side for me. If I was to nitpick on the bike the pedaling performance is meh compared to a DW Link, I had a Firebird as well and that was a better bike to pedal. The other thing I struggled with on that bike was the suspension set up, it took a lot of fine tuning to get right for some reason, maybe it's my weight but I spent a good part of the first year trying to set it up right, once I had it set up though it was one of the most fun descending bikes I've ever had, not the most stable but the most fun.

The sizing issue you had is interesting. How tall are you? I’m 6’3” and ~150lbs before throwing on gear and a bag, so according to Evil I’m squarely in the size large range.

I had a V1 and now have a V2. As said, the differences aren't huge. I had the chance to upgrade so I did. If V2 wasn't an option like now, then I wouldn't have any trouble going with a V1. Used ones are also much cheaper if you want to go that route.

At 6'3" I would put you in an XL, I'm 6'2", 220lbs. I guess though at the end of the day it really depends on the riding experience you want, for me the Offering in an L I guess would be a perfect do it all bike but I was looking for something more stable as I already have a "downcountry" bike that provided a similar riding experience albeit with less travel. There was too much overlap in my two bikes.

yeah, looking for a do it all bike right now. Though I’m tempted to do an XL for a bit more stability as well. It’s pretty much in line with other bikes I’ve considered in terms of reach and wheelbase for an XL. Definitely not looking for enduro monster truck characteristics.
