Worst Crash/Armor

Just had my worst crash about 10 days ago: OC after a drop, endoed on a log off to the side of the trail, full superman (minus bike) into a tree. 4 fractured lumbar vertebre and a hospital bill that could have bought me a really, really, nice bike. While Im off the bike (6 weeks before light riding) I figured Id look into some upper body protection. Ive checked out the 661 pressure suit/assault suit but they look really hot and the assult does not have plastic spine protection. Does anybody have experience with the "roost guard" type armor that can comment on spinal protection? Cant have this happen again...
