Bicycle Wheel Tire Bicycles--Equipment and supplies Crankset

Bicycle Wheel Bicycles--Equipment and supplies Tire Bicycle frame

I don’t care. I expect it’ll do exactly what I want it to.
I just serviced the 210mm dropper hidden by this ugly 3” motorcycle innertube. The dropper had 2 tablespoonfuls of gray-brown sludge — which used to be grease — in its bowels.
I didn’t want that to happen again. Not between now and the summer riding season. I want to be done servicing dropper posts for a while (just did 3 in the past 2 days.)
Winter riding in the PNW is real deal. Sometimes we have to resort to drastic measures.
Fortunately I don’t care what this bike looks like. I only care that it’ll perform as it should plus require minimum maintenance during the off season.
If this system don’t perform as well as its off putting appearance promises, I’ll report back here. Meanwhile I’m going to laugh at the puddles, the mud, the slush, the stream crossings, etc. while I enjoy awesome PNW winter riding.:)(y)

Spartacus Inc dropping their new product, the Dropper Condom.
Damn… I could become a dropper condom tycoon!
Maybe I shouldn’t have, er, leaked these photos just yet.
Hope I wasn’t premature on that.
Gotta come up (so to speak) with some marketing ideas. Any chance you creative fellas might help me with this?

I could probably erect you a solid marketing campaign. Give me some time, I’m edging towards something really good.

I am in full support of this idea. Just wondering if you are going to secure/ seal the lower end of the droppie hat? And if the conditions are extra sloppy would you consider double wrapping?
Initially I put a ziptie on the bottom and then realized it was unnecessary because water would have to flow uphill in order to get in thataway.
So I took the ziptie off to allow easy access to the seat collar clamp in case I want to fine tune saddle height while on a ride.
This is a motorcycle tube so it's really thick rubber, no need for additional protection.

I was scrolling down and about to post a comment recommending a mudhugger rear fender...

I just got one, it's awesome. It'll protect you, some parts of the bike, and of course your dropper.
It's remarkably stable and rigid.

Thanks, I've got a Mudhugger and agree it's a terrific rear fender -- best available IMO.
The Mudhugger is on my shelf. I'd already installed the dropper condom when I remembered I had the Mudhugger; eventually I may put the fender on, too.
Meanwhile I'm going to see how the dropper condom works on its own. Back when the fender was mounted on my Honzo, I always hated kicking that Mudhugger while swinging my leg to get on or off the bike. Of course I got used to it being there and quit kicking it in short order but I've gotta grasp for some logical-sounding reason for hesitating to put the fender on besides being at least as ugly as the dropper condom, right?
So let's go with "product testing." Yeah, that's the ticket.

Even with a good seal, water and dirt will make their way into the condom, and some of it will stay there. I once tried to seal a rear shock with a tube, and it wasn’t effective. Not only did grime work it’s way in, some of the rubber compound from the tube rubbed off on the stanchion.

If I were you, I’d throw that Mudhugger on in a quick second. You get used to swinging your leg over it, and who cares what it looks like. They work.
