With two weeks until the World Solo 24 Hours of Adrenalin Championships, who do you think will win the overall?

Event takes place in Whistler, BC on September 4 & 5, 2004

Men's Elite:

Athletes attending include 4 time men's winner Chris Eatough (trek), Tinker Juarez, 2nd 2003 (Cannondale), Nat Ross 3rd 2003 (Gary Fisher), what about new comer Andreas Hestler (Rocky Mountain) or will someone outside North America finish on the podium?

Women's Elite:

Athletes include returning 2003 champion Christina Begy (Spot), 2002 Champion Lesley Thomlinson (Rocky Mountain), 2000 winner Katie Lindquist (Moots)?

One thing for sure a new Single Speed men's champion will be crowned as Stephen Fassbinder will miss for the first time the WSC.

It is my understanding that an anonymous age grouper from a southern state is going to give those guys a run for their money. He?s also going to bring his pet Emu up to scare off the elites. The report from the Waco national marathon was that the elites got lost but this report has it on good authority that they were all just scared of the local wildlife.

I think I've had Emu-jerkey before... or maybe it was ostrich, I don't remember. I do remember it was tasty though. Kinda like chicken and rabbit. Hmm... actually, I think it was ostrich. Close enough. :p

Woohoo! Almost time! 29 hours? Yikes... and I thought our 18-20 hour drive from CA was going to be long.

drive times and emu jerky--are they related?

Three of us(two solo 1x1's and 1 "Elitist") are driving from Winnipeg, Manitoba..ironically 24 hrs away...hopefully a good omen.

don't think I eaten emu or ostrich ever...consciously anyway. I'll probably crave it at about 3am during the race though...

see ya'll in two weeksish. Eh!

Did you guys see my rant????

About how you guys sukk?? ( I don't really think that). Is there a single speed team division? It doesn't look like it to me. Why do the FREAKS get a division and not us half FREAKs?

Go Jeff!

I work with Jeff Kerkove, so he is my pick. Besides, if I didn't pick him, I might get a pedal wrench to the back-o-the-haid! Ha! Anyways, Good journey to all those making the long trek out and back! Oh, and to Jeff: If you read this, stick to Ross and Chambers and check 'em out! They both should be on 'niners. I'm tellin' ya! And don't forget the midnight surprise! Go Jeff! :D

My pick is... myself! Okay, maybe not. My goal is just to finish the race without sleeping. Hey, it's only my 2nd solo 24 hour event! It'll be fun riding with the big names though... er, I mean getting passed by the big names. Eatough, Juarez, Kerkove, Chenowyts (sp?), Warkenton (will they all be there?)... and everyone else.

Looks like rain and mud and more rain and more mud for the event. Anyone know what the soil is like there? Clay like and clumpy or wet and slick?

Anyone check out the weather lately? It was supposed to rain for most of the weekend and saturday night, but now they (weather.com, accuweather.com, weather.ca) are forecasting mostly cloudy or partly sunny, but no rain...Its kind of funny because they had forecasted very poor weather for the last week or so. And if the ground is dry like the toninator said, it should be sweeeeeet:)

course update

Weather is fine, those trails are some of the 1st in town to drain. The biggest worry for people from out of town is the technical difficulty should it rain: there are several sections that are rooty/rocky, and could prove... challenging for those who aren't used to our trails...
