Looking for some advice for a work buddy. He is looking to buy his first FS. 2k or under used is ok. 130's travel is about right for what he will be riding. Typical northeast basic bike. Won't see anything requiring 150mm or more. Mainly NE char singletrack and carriage paths.
AL is a ok and probably gets him more bike at this price point. No preference for XT or SRAM.
