Business trip?
Yep, We are installing some software for a customer. We have been instructed to:
- not leave our hotel other than to go to the customer site.
- do not hire a taxi
- wear inexpensive looking clothes
- actually, two embassies have told us not to go at all (US and French)

Luckily, the customer site is one of the only locations which the UN currently has control of.

Guess you won't be searching for singletrack, heh-heh. :D

You may want to follow the same guidlines during your layover in Miami. What a freakshow that place has turned into...

Glad I don't live there anymore. ;)

Be safe. OGG

If you were really as extreme as your pictures suggest, you would bring your Wily with you. Pusssy.
I will gladly leave the hotel if you are willing to pay the ransom.

no matter what, wear a condom.
Are you kidding me? If I could I would wear a full body condom the entire time I am there. That and a bullet proof vest.
You know it is bad when the US embassy removes all non-emergency personnel from the country.

I am back!

Well, I made it. Here are a few pics:

1) Wave hello to the UN
2) This place needs a clean-up
3) These guys were keeping that bad guys out of our install site (or were these the bad guys? hard to know for sure).

Here are some more

pictures

1) this is what every 'sidewalk' looks like (nobody actually walks on them. they walk straight down the street).
2) the Presidential Palace. The nicest looking thing in Port Au Prince. I assume that this is why there are 45 candidates running for president.
3) some houses on the way to the airport.

Happy you are back safe and sound, Moto.
It's pretty unreal how much of a 180 degree difference between the palace and the "average home." This is what our country will look like if we continue down the path we are currently following...
Time to get the bike in the woods!

U.N control

U.N. control...now THAT is funny.

Your pics remind me a little of when I spent some time in Beirut some years ago. You could tell what a beautiful place it once was. It was never nice getting your bags checked over by guys with AK-47s. And on the way out they hit us for $980 in over weight baggage fees.
