Will the 2010 shocks still retain the 5 warranty?

It looks like Fox is going to making shocks for the 2010 specials now. I am wondering if anyone knows if the Epic in particular with retain the 5 warranty? If so it would be the best warranty ever offered on a fox product.

So is that a yes?

a 2010 epic will have a 1 year warranty and warranty and repair issues will be dealt with through Fox and not Specialized? Just like the 06 and older epics?
We have had a long standing relationship with Fox for several years with many components, for any Specialized bike equipped with Fox manufactured product we will continue to use their established network of service centers in which all Fox manufactured product is currently being serviced.

Questions regarding Fox warranty can be answered via the link shared above.
OK, so let's say my 2009 shock goes out and is replaced with a 2010 shock, does my 5 year warranty on my shock instantly get downgraded to a one year warranty?
That seems a shame for future owners of Specialized design shocks, that will be put together by FOX. I am 100% confident that the new head seal has fixed any problems and they will be reliable anyway. Fox has timed this to perfection as they will get the credit even though Specialized has already fixed the problem prior to them taking over the building. I guess Specialized are happy with this as say people get problems 3-4 years down the line, they won't have to replace/repair. I think the reason for the return to Fox warranty is because Specialized are also confident about the new head seal, therefore the need for the 5 year warranty will be gone.
If I had an 09 shock I would ask that it be replaced with another 09 as it is the same anyway, just built by someone else with their logo. Be confident in the AFR now, the seal has it sorted. I am and believe me I have taken some convincing with alot of Epic and Stumpy shock issues.
I believe Specialized will still service the new shocks but any warranty issues go through FOX.

Personally, I would rather have the Fox shock with their warranty then the non-fox shock with the five year warranty. Now I am not saying that Specialized hasn't been outstanding in stepping up to the plate and supporting their product. They absolutely have stood behind it. I do however enjoy the reliabilty of the Fox products.

For EU countries the Fox warranty is two years.

Does the 2010 Fox branded Epic brain shock actually function better than the 2009 Epic brain shock when riding? If it's a big improvement to the brain's performance then I could see myself wanting one for my 2009 Epic, even if that means losing a few years of warranty.:)

2010 Epic

"The chassis is unchanged, but the Fox version of the Brain-actuated micro shock is in a different league to the previous Specialized unit. It's still pretty pert in action, but it'll swallow decent sized landings without stumbling. The genuinely immediate shock actuation in lower Brain Fade levels means it doubles as a very fast and fluid short-travel trail bike. " Bikeradar.com

2010 Epic

"but the performance is dramatically improved too.
The way the Brain activates has changed dramatically. It still uses a brass mass inertia valve, but now the shock link hose feeds in from the top, not the bottom, for a much faster reacting and more compact setup.

I am looking at my shock now and it feeds from the top as well  So is this a change for the stumpies? Does this quote mean that the 09 epics already have this improvements????
The new 2010 SJ frames will have a rear shock with a top feed resevoir similar to 2009/2010 Epics.

The first part of the Bikeradar article deals with the 2010 Stumpjumper FSR. You have to scroll down to the Epic heading for their comments about the 2010 Epic's Fox brain rear shock.:)

I'm just wondering whether the 2010 Epic's Fox brain shock really is an improvement over the current 2009 Epic brain shock or marketing. Is it going to be available as a warranty/ cost option for 2009 Epic owners?

Does it clunk? :)

I am very reliably informed that the 09 Epic shock is exactly the same as the 2010 Epic shock, just put together by FOX and still all Specialized design. Your shock is every bit as good as the 2010 version and was in fact probably built by Fox anyway, as the slightly later 09 shocks manufactuering switched to them a while ago .It is just that for 2010 they put them all together. So you get a 09 shock the same as the 2010 but with a 5 year guarantee.

Also the Bike radar tester has obviously become a little confused around this issue, but remember these people don't know brained bikes as well as those of us who have ridden them exclusively for a few years. His comment of the almost unnoticebale feeling of the shock opening up in lower brain fade levels is already true in Current Epic and Stumpies, when dialed out a bit. It actually feels less noticeable on the Stumpy but this is due to the slightly softer platform, and lighter shim stack. He has made a fair few mistakes in the report, especially that 2010 Epic shocks and brains react better now that they are Fox. The shocks are identical.
Current AFR's are instant in opening up when working properly. Just with FOX building them it restores confidence and I imagine QC.

my 09 epic shock works great.cant see how it can be improved.much easier on my back than the old style designs.and hooks up like a hard tail .

well, I can't see inside the shocks, but my 2009 shock looks different compared with the 2010 FOX shock

Cosmetic I would say, so sorry not identical. The tube feeds in from the top the same and just noticed that Speci Tech says the new stumpy feeds in from the top like the 09/10 Epics.
I am assured they are the same performance...

Say what?!?!

I see the air cannister being different. Air cannister = air spring shape. Change the cannister shape and you get a different air spring curve.

It's beyond cosmetic. They don't build these bikes just to look pretty.

I am only saying what I have been told by a person who would/should know..
