I just wondered what is the widest tire I can run on my 717s, I have been looking at Schwalbe Racing Ralphs 2.25.... would that be too wide??

No problem. I wouldn't run them less than 35 psi though.

I use up to 2.6" tires on a Velocity VXC (same width/profile as the Mavic) with as little as 15 psi. 2.3-2.5" tires in the 22-30 psi range is not a problem for me.

The RR will work great and I use ~30 psi front & 32-34 rear.
