Do you like it? Anything to say about it good or bad? Quality/fit etc... Can you get replacement pads anywhere(USA)?
I am looking at buying a new helmet. I had pretty much decided on a mid-priced giro and saw two models of uvex at jenson. The Supersonic looks good in the pics, similar price I was ready to pay, but I'm hesitant to buy without trying it on and looking at it with my own eyes...

I have a couple of Uvex Supersonics and for me, they are much more comfortable and secure than my Giro Atmos (I thought it was good until I tried the Uvex).

I bought replacement pads by calling Magura USA (618-395-2200).

I will get another Uvex when I need a new helmet.

I have tried on a few. Do not fit my head at all. WAY too round and shallow.

We sell UVEX. I personally have 4 of their helmets. Boss Race x 2, Supersonic, XP100. All are great helmets and Made in Germany. My favorite feature is the ability to change where the sides fit your head. Have 5 slots to move up and or down.

But helmets really should be tried beforehand do to fit, As Shiggy said they didn't fit his head. They fit mine great but Giros do not.

No offense, but I could not disagree more. I got an FP 3.1 two months ago precisely because it was deeper than most other helmets, and fit my oblong head. I tried all the high end Bell, Giros, and Loius Garneau helmets, but they were all a combination of very round, perched on the top of my head, or lacking in back-of-the-head protection.

So not only does the matte white 3.1 look wicked, but provides more coverage than most other helmets IMHO.

Just my experience.

I have a oval head, but many times over the years have had people tell me the helmets that fit me well are "round" and the helmets that do not are "oval." This despite those claimed "oval" models pinch me front to back and I can slide my hands between head and helmet on the sides.

I could almost put the Uvex on sideways.

I also have trouble finding hats that are deep enough to stay on my head.

Bottom line: You must try on the helmet!

Ive had three XP100's now and they are great helmets.
Fit is personal, just like jeans or shoes...
One thing I really like about the Uvex is that their retention system wraps and adjusts all the way around your head- not just the back (like giro/bell).
Their adjustable chin strap and bug mesh are also nice touches.

And retention systems ("head clamps") may help keep a helmet on your head, but it can not correct a shell shape that is not right. If the shell is not close to the skull it can not absorb an impact effectively.

A helmet that fits properly should be stable without the use of the head clamps and chin straps.

That's correct Shiggy.
Also worth noting, retention systems only effect the diameter of the helmet, not the depth...
So definitely not helpful for those with cone or egg shaped heads!

Uvex Jeans?

A helmet that fits properly should be stable without the use of the head clamps and chin straps.

Just like jeans....check these out...no belt or suspenders required!
nice and tight at the waist and ankles... and just enough room for my boys! :ciappa:
