Who Got a New Bike From Santa?

658 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  gatordog
One year of riding and my wife got me the 09 FSR XC Comp. ("Opened It" on the 21st);)

So far love it, although a little weird coming off the HT. Especially climbing

Anyone else blessed this year?

Anyone have thoughts on this bike?

Congrats, I can't really comment on the bike since I have not ridden the 09 FSRxc (i have ridden the 08). I also got a full suspension (08 SJ FSR Comp) but it was a gift to myself :)
My wife bought me a 08 SJ FSR Expert. It is a cool bike.
Life is good! Just got my 09' stumpy FSR comp today (Satin Black). I'm going out for my first ride in the morning and I can't wait. I test rode the FSR xc last month and was very impressed. The geometry is the same as the 07' stumpy with different components. I really liked the bike. However, on really slow techy stuff, the front end wandered due to the front fork angle. On decents it really shined. Its going to take a while to dial in the bike so be patient. Seat height tip: Measure your inseam in centimeters (bare foot with your feet 6 inches apart) and multiply this number by 0.883 = optimum seat height measured from the top of the seat to the center of the front crank. I had to go online to get the conversion from inches to cm. Once I got the seat height right, the bike felt much better. I set the sag in the rear shock a little firm which also helped the feel of the bike. I rode the red/black FSR xc size L. I love the color options on your bike. Which did you decide on? I know your going to love the bike more and more. Congrats!

KJ, Thanks

I appreciate your notes on the setup and could not agree more. I need to increase the firmness of the rear shock for sure. I will check the seat height as well. The Local BS fit me for the bike but the seat is so high I can't put on foot to the ground without getting off the saddle? He said it was the "optimal height". I got the Satin Black as well. Congrats on the Stumpy!!
