The economy sucks, I'm out there biking more than usual. There's also a lot of other people on a weekday afternoon on the trails.
When I had more work than I could get to, time on the dirt was a welcome relief. When times are slow, instead of enjoying the ride I feel guilty about not trying to scare up more work. Like my time could be spend better than riding! Well, riding doesn't pay the bills.

I'm on involuntary vacation because I got injured at work. I've been at home for a week and a half, and may have to sit out another week. Last week I went riding every day but one or two, and this week may be the same if my shoulder is feeling better.

I had been unemployed for one year plus thirteen (13) days, when my former employer had me come back for a six-week contract… which unfortunately just ended two weeks ago. Yep, lots of riding time.

I left my perfectly good job in the south of England because there was no good mountainbiking there. I'm now a bum in North Scotland with trails on my doorstep and quite happy, albeit skint.
Here in good old 'merica, people graduate from college with an average debt of $21,000. Then you gotta buy health insurance, because frankly, biking without it is plain stupid. Otherwise, being a biking bum sounds good. :)

I was on furloughed for 6 months during the winter...I got burnt out of snowboarding so quickly as I had no body to hit the back country with.

I wish my 6 month time off was summer time off, as there are many more solo things I can do. I was searching for other work the entire time. I ended up finding a new job the week after they officially laid me off...I think I got pretty lucky.

Yeah, then some of us decide to get advanced degrees and that number jumps a little.
