Is the Whistler mountain bike part too hardcore for a new rider? I'm looking for some like downhill and trail riding and wondering if the park offers this? Or is it just jumps and heavy downhill runs.

I'm riding a Diamondback Topanga hardtail.

The park is really oriented to lift assisted rides with full suspension bikes and riders in body armour and full face helmet, a Diamondback Topanga hardtail would be way out of its depth. Any bike you're ride on the North Shore would be suitable for Whistler.

The Lost Lake trail network would be a suitable challenge for a new rider on a XC hardtail.

If you're going to tackle the Bike Park, rent a bike and the armour/helmet.
