Hello again,

Looking to change out cranks and BB. Would like the Chris King external bearing BB. Of all the light, stiff cranks listed on the WW board, which are compatible? I am 175 lbs and ride XC - frame is an Ellsworth Id with a Rohloff Speedhub. I need a compatible, light, 38t front ring as well.

The CK bb works with any 24mm OD spindle external bearing cranks. Race Face Next would be a good choice for light weight, as would good old XTR (though much of the benefit of XTR cranks is the stock rings you'd be ditching). The FSA carbon options look nice but there are many reports of failures with the bonded components, and the spindle size is not made to Shimano HTII spec so fit is questionable (though will probably work) with the bb.

Truvativ/SRAM GXP cranks are also compatible with the Chris King BB using the Hope adaptor. So Truvativ Noir or maybe wait for X.X cranks...they have a 39T option, or get a custom 38T Boone Titanium Ring.

Is the bottom bracket shell width on the Id 68 or 73mm? If 68 then why not a road crankset for running only a 38T ring? 7800 series Dura Ace crankarms, Chris King BB, Specialties TA 38T ring would be my choice.

LOL! This was the day that the forum was acting up and was causing multiple posts.

I didn't bother to come back and try to delete them because the page wouldn't eve completely load that day!

Still looking for an answer to the question. Has anyone tested the CK bottom bracket with the Hope GXP crank adapter?
