Hope another thread like this isn't too annoying but I would like to get your opinions. I'm putting the old SS to rest and am contemplating the following:

Buy a higher quality frame and rebuild with the old (but durable) components into another 26er.

or

Buy a new mail order 29er for $300-350 and do the upgrades.

I'm also doing the ebay / Craigslist thing but so far haven't found anything in my size / budget.

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat and will be going the route of the 29er. New frame/fork, wheelset, and rear cog. Other than that, the parts from my old 26er should carry over just fine until I want to upgrade those as well.

Boat is getting crowded ... I'm looking at a 29er either used or new, something like a Kona Unit./ Karate monkey.
A built would be great but sometimes it works out more $ and takes way longer than you planned
I need a 22" so not many out there but then I only want one :)

I think you're right, I've never had one so I probably should. Thanks all!
and besides, 26 inch wheels will work on a 29er but it won't work the other way around.    :eekster: :eekster: :eekster: :eekster: :skep: :skep: :skep: :skep:
