My current Haro Mary XC came with these:

Rim: WTB Laserdisc Trail
Spokes: Generic
Hubs: Shimano Deore M525

I was thinking of upgrading my wheelset but don't really want to spend too much, given the limited choices here in the Philippines my choices are:

Rim: WTB Laserdic Trail (re-use)
Spokes: DT Swiss Revo
Hubs: Shimano XT

or

Fulcrum Red Metal 29 SL

or

American Classic MTB 29

I'd go with the American Classic wheelset. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

You may also want to consider the new Crank Bros 29er wheelset.

@Loggahead - As for the XT hubs, the one my LBS is offering is I think the XT M756 which is a 6 bolt type.

@A1an - As much as I want the Crank Bros, its way too much for my budget.

Seriously, you should include Stans as an alternate choice. International shipping is pretty inexpensive now days.

I'd stick to the stock wheelset, and just save money towards the wheelset that you really want. If you have the patience, slow, methodical builds sometimes are the most rewarding (not to mention most prudent).

that said, the XT 775 hubs are dependable, with good engagement too.
hopefully we'll have more rim options in the future too (we're working on that now)

any particular reason why you want to upgrade? if it's weight, what tires are you running now?
