I'm looking at buying a set of race disc wheels. I currently ride Crosslink wheels (2100 grams) and weigh 195 lbs.

The wheels I'm looking at are:
FSA XC-300, DT swiss 240 hubs laced to mavic 517 rims, or XTR M965 hubs laced to mavic 717s.
The FSA are $40 cheaper and the XTR are centerlock so I will have to buy new rotors or adaptors.

Thanks for your advise in advance!

I would probably go with the cheaper set. I am guessing the 517's are old stock because I think they were replaced by the 717's. If one set has heavier spokes I would go for that one. I bought a set of race wheels with DT Swiss double butted 14/15 spokes and I have busted a couple on the rear wheel.

14/15 butted spokes are more than strong enough, going heavier than that on a set of race wheels (or almost any wheel for that matter) would be silly. If you are breaking spokes it's typically an indication that the wheel was poorly built or that spokes have been damaged in some way (ie: chain going off the back side of the cassette).

Which wheels ? Hubs?

Which wheel do you think is best?
What about these hubs?
XTR Vs FSA Vs DT Swiss 240 Vs DT Swiss Cerit ?

And one other question what are DT Swiss Cerit hubs? The website doesn't say?

Thanks

The 240s is by far the best hub out of those. Just comes down to how much you want to spend really. The Cerit is a lower end OEM hub. I'm not a fan of the FSA or most other pre-built wheels like it, most are not a good value for what you get. I would go with the 240s, or the WTB Laser-Disc Lite if you need to keep the price more moderate. 14/15g spokes at the most, Supercomps would be fine too if you're not too hard on wheels.
