My Shimano LX disc pads got oil on them and now they squeal and don't stop well. I've tried brake clean and alcohol, but they won't act like the rear pads anymore.

Should I use Shimano pads, or are there others that will fit?

Shimano pads are good but there are also numerous aftermarket pads for the LX that are good as well. I am currently using the Alligator semi-metallic pads and find them very good for general trail use. I think I got them from Pricepoint.
