hi everybody
im picking up a khs solo-one at the end of this week, and as such, i need to make a decision about which tires to have thrown on there

1. kenda karma dtc 2"
2. hutchinson spider light 2.3"
3. wtb mutano raptor 2.3"

relevant info:
im 145lbs. trail i ride on is half rocky (w/ babyheads) and half packed/fast. fyi i currently use 1.85" panafirexc on them with shitty fork and im okay with the comfort... ive also shortly ridden a steel rigid with 2.1" tires and have been pleased with them, too.

sooo it seems like i would do fine with the 2" kendas... but getting consensus affirmation doesnt hurt :)

Three very different tires. All are much higher volume than your Fire 1.8.
traction has never been much of a problem for me... dont care too much for durability either (i put WAY more miles on the roadie)

my priorities are control/handling, rolling resistance, and weight
Then go with the Karma or a Blue Groove 2.10 front and Karma rear.
You might like the Python Air Light 2.0, too,

I just took my solo-one out yesterday for its virgin ride and i was pleasantly surprised by the Kenda karmas that came on the bike. I generally use Conti Vertical pro/ Survival pro on my other bikes. The traction was very good ( Pisgah, WNC ,roots, rocks ,wet).
I will probably replace the front tire with a Vertical Pro for a bit more cornering confidence though.
I did put a Black Elite 100mm on it and another nagging easily solved annoyance was the "soft-tail". I realize that the rear suspension is there to just provide a tiny bit of cush and a tad bit of traction aid and it did ok with that but the dust cover/bushing really need either silicon spray or grease cause the stiction was so bad i could hear it and feel the drag in my a#$ to the point that i stopped because i thought the drive train was screwing up.
I really enjoyed riding the bike and once i take care of the stiction problem it will be great....enjoy and i am selling my RM7 and Planet X zebdi cause i think i really like this SS thing.( RM7 is posted in the clasifieds already--$1100.00 but ill take $900.00--spam here but its allowed since i paid)
