Noob here, looking at two Gary Fishers. Wahoo and Marlin. My question: are the upgrades on the Marlin worth the extra $120? Differences are:

Bike: Marlin vs. Wahoo

Fork: Manitou Axel Elite vs. RockShox J1

Crank: Bontrager Sport 42/32/22 vs. Shimano MC09 42/32/22

FD: Shimano M-410 Alivio vs. Shimano Acera

RD: Shimano M-511 Deore vs. Shimano Alivio

Shifters: Shimano M-410 Alivio vs. Shimano EF50

Breaks: Avid SD3 linear pull vs. Tektro 845AL V

Where are the biggest jumps in quality? Would you spend the extra cash on the Marlin? Or be happy with the Wahoo?

Also, give me a good excuse to get the wife to sign off on the extra funds needed to real in the Marlin and this thread is moot.

Thanks!

Alright, well, the Marlin is basically the V-brake version of the piranha, just under a different name. I'm getting a piranha sometime, just waiting for the money. It kinda depends on how uptight you are about your components. The better components would make for a nice, smooth shifting. Fork, Rear and front deraillieur (spelled wrong, i know) are the biggest changes. I would go with the marlin, but that's just me.
