Which fork? (Nukeproof scout 29)

Trying to split hairs but don't want to regret whichever direction I go, trying to decide 1) between 130 and 140 mm travel 2) which brand/model (looking at fox 34 perf elite 130 fit4 but that seems a bit wimpy)
Primarily just trail riding, with a few xc/marathon races thrown in, not looking to race downhill, a lockout (or close to) would be ideal..

You're doing a build because the Scout isn't listed with a 34. So I'd pick a Mezzer Pro. Can be spaced down to 140. Or even 130.

I have no experience with Manitou, why would you get that versus a Fox 34/bomber z2/Pike/DVO/whatever?
Tuning potential. One thing Manitou on that fork uses is a shim stack and multiport valve for the damper. The shims are washers of different diameters and thicknesses. These affect the oil flow through the valve. You can change them, add or remove some. How the fork works is up to your choices. Heres the discussion Manitou Mezzer: Owners Thread [Setup & Tech]
I know myself, I find tinkering more frustrating than enjoyable. After initial setup can it be left alone?
Totally. Once you've got it right for you it just works.
And it'll move to any future bike up to enduro.
Running 140mm Z2 on my 290 Scout & it feels perfect. Wayyyy better than the Recon that was on it. Little extra travel is nice. If you want to spend the money, obviously a Fox 34 would be nicer...but for my budget/needs this works & it's stupid simple to set up.
