Hey guys! I'm new this sport and this will be my 1st mountain bike purchase! I don't want to go to expensive because i don't know if I'm going to love it or not! I have picked out 2 bikes and I'm not sure on which to get!

The 2nd bike: Pushing the price limit pretty close.. wont leave much money to buy other things.. But does have lockout shocks. i will be using it for alot of commuting with it as and im not sure if i should push the bank a little and get the lockouts.. is it worth it?

They're both similar. The fist one is marginally better - it has a (somewhat) serviceable fork.

You should rent/demo a bike at your local bike shop to see if you even like the sport. It's about $25-50 for a whole day, depending on which bike.

Then, support your local bike shop for whichever bike you buy. You can get a great deal on entry level bikes there, and usually they offer free lifetime tune-ups.

Look ALL OVER maybe considder a used ride you can get GREAT deals on a higher end bike and haggle with the price most of the times..

Was that GT any good? I've been looking around for a used bike and have decided to just go new... and even if i dont like the actual off road part it will be used as a commuter... so either way i need a bike
