I'm looking to get a new bike rack to replace my 25 year old model My car is a 2007 Honda Fit and I have looked at both the Saris Bones 2 or the Thule Speedway 2. Anybody use either one of these racks? If so how do they fit on your vehicle? Not technically, but more like how do you like the fit on your vehicle, ease of installation, security, stability, etc. My Honda is a small hatchback type car with a spoiler on top, so if anyone has a similar ride, I'd love to hear what you think, pros and cons. If there is another rack from a different manuf. that you recommend or use let me know that too. Thanks

I have a Thule roof rack on my 07 Fit Sport and am currently looking to sell off my Thule Sidearm carriers. The car's a bit tall and getting bikes up there isn't the easiest thing to do unless you're 6' or taller. I still need to keep the roof rack for my canoe, though.

I currently carry bikes (up to 2) upright inside on fork mounts and the backseats folded down. The rear wheels peek between the front seats a hair, but not too bad to be trouble.

I am planning to get a hitch rack for the bikes to make carrying a bit easier. You probably can't do much better than a hitch rack.

Besides, I doubt a trunk rack would work on the Sport with the spoiler. Trunk racks usually have straps that need to attach to the top edge of liftgates, and there's no way to install those types of straps with the spoiler in the way.

We also have a 2007 Fit.

Looking at the curt or draw-tite 1-1/4" hitches, and the swagman xc2 carrier. Cost is a big consideration, as well as not having a carrier that the top tube of the frame rides in. The kuat is a work of art, but easily more than 2x the cost of the swagman + the hitch.

Opinions/experiences with the swagman rack?

Sorted!

Got a very simple and easy to install draw-tite 1 1/4" hitch (part # 24776) for $95 including shipping from fleabay, took all of 15mins to install it, hardly had to crawl under the car to attach 3 bolts and it was done!

Also got a near new Xport flatbed 2-bike rack from CL for $75, in all we got the hitch and the rack for less than the rack sells for retail, now ready for some warmer weekend outings in the mountains. Yeah Baybie!! ;)
