Don't tell me a little wind stopped you from riding?!

LOL! It was retarded windy. I got a power assist that made the initial climb out of BD very easy. Once I rounded the bend and started towards the BFR is was like climbing a steep hill. I actually had to get out of the saddle and hammer like I was on a hill to keep going. I played around for a while and headed back.

You know how you can take the 'high road' back to BD after the BFR? Normally on the SS its a short out of the saddle steepish climb. The wind was so strong I actually flew up that hill like I was on the flats! Then on the high road I got knocked into the hill by a very strong gust.

An hour was about enough of that. On the plus side its always better to get outside and the trails were deserted. It was just me and a local race team and I only saw them in the lot when I got back.

I was planning to go out there today, but I had issues driving my car today let alone riding my bike. Hopefully the cold snap is quick and I can get a decent day out there mid-week. I hate doing anything when it's 'destructo-windy'.

Hey off topic but...

I was out at BD today, first time out there to ride. I parked at the Outpost and rode to that trail head up the street, the one that starts out rolling and then begins to climb to saddle. I was trying to ride the Landmine Loop but got off track, somewhat disoriented, and turned around after about 4 miles. Is there a dedicated direction of travel on any of the trails out there? I saw people riding both ways but it got me wondering if I was committing a faux paus by not traveling in the proper direction.

Thanks.

I have to say that these trails are some of the few I've ridden that are equally fun in either direction, even the climb up Red Canyon; though it's much more fun down, it's really not that bad of a climb.

Most people out there are cool, but there are a few. Just follow the uphill right of way rule and you'll be good. Most of the time anyway. I got over for a guy a couple weeks ago but apparently not fast enough as he gave an "uphill RIDEers" in a douchey tone after he went by. Probably got *****ed out by his wife for going riding that morning. :D

Anyway, almost everyone out there is cool so don't sweat it.

OK, thanks. I do my best to stay out of other peoples way and be respectful to other users so I was just curious.

Yeah, one of my fav rides out there is the BBQ parking lot through the lower tunnel. Then out to the hill below techno, down the swichbacks then hang a left and climb red valley and head out to the wilson's tank overlook. On the way back hit red valley going downhill. Awesome ride.

Back on topic; I thank all of you who don't ride when its windy. It is so peaceful out there on those days. I can't figure out what keeps you away, because I like the variety that it brings to the ride and see no downside whatsoever.
