Where to get my suspension serviced?

2617 Views 29 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Cleared2land
I’m in need of getting my 2020 fox fork and shock serviced. I don’t really have the time or the tools to learn how to do it myself right now. Besides the fox factory service, are there any other good places to send a fork and shock to for service? I’m looking for somebody that can do the rebuilds in a reasonable time frame and at a reasonable price. Thanks.

I've used Dirtlabs a couple times. For a fork only it's been around $250 with shipping both ways.
I've had good luck with Butter Suspension in Seattle, WA. He's done a couple shocks and a fork for me. Reasonably priced and quick turn around. Each time I've dealt with him, it's been less than two weeks turn around.

where are you located?
Central NC.

I did ask one local LBS here and he said he only does the fork lowers in house. Everything else he sends back to the manufacturer.

Perhaps you need to define 'service'. An LBS should be able to perform basic fluid service for both forks and shock. Full rebuilds with dampener service will need more specialized care.

I would think with a 2020 fork it's not likely that it's going to need major work.
(I actually would think it's not likely it needs any work at all unless the OP is putting in a lot of hard miles.)

There’s nothing major wrong with either the fork or the shock, aside from a small oil leak out the damper side dust seal on the fork that I found on my last ride. The suspension does have about 200 hours of mostly downhill and enduro type of riding. It’s also on an ebike, and I’m not a small guy. I figured it’s time for some maintenance. I’m thinking something like the fox factory service for both that they recommend every 125 hours.

I don’t know what happened with the quote above, and can’t seem to fix it, so the mods can delete the post above this one (#11) if they wish.

Yeah, with a few hundred hours, probably makes sense to at least get a look at it.

I tried that, but no matter what I did it wouldn’t take my reply out of the box with the quoted post.

Thanks. I’ll check them out.
They've been there before Fox decided to move to Fletcher and are friends of Jenny from ABI who runs a very immersive Fox suspension training course.
Just update the thread here, I wound up going with the Fox factory service and it was a great experience all together. I haven't got the suspension back on the bike yet, as I just got it back from them a few minutes ago. Everything looks tidy, and the turnaround time was less than five days. Price was reasonable too, coming in at less than what they advertise on their website. My appointment date to have my stuff serviced was Feb. 16th, and they wanted me to get the suspension to them by the 13th so everything could stay on time. Expecting shipping delays and whatnot, I shipped the suspension on the 7th, it was serviced on the 10th, and I just got it all back today on the 11th. Not too bad, and much quicker than I was expecting. If you're in NC and looking for a good place to get your fox suspension serviced, the factory service at their east cost facility seems to be a good option.

For you guys who ship your fork, have you kept the original box around from the time of purchase or are you getting a new box each time from somewhere?
