...to a new era for COMBA, and working together to build a strong mountain bike community in 2009?

This happy hour is open to everyone in the mountain bike community. Naturally, we'd all like a ride to accompany the occasion. If the weather is on our side, there will be an optional pre-happy hour ride. This poll will close at midnight on January 7th. There will be a thread released later with the final details on January 8th.

Your 2009 CoMBA BoD:

Terry Breheny
Anthony Sloan
Kyle Henley
Joe Hanrahan
Adam Williams
Michelle Beckman
Jason Bertolacci
Nathan Wyant
Paul Murphy

Thanks!

There's a side of my brain that functions in a weird way. I took out the flyer.

I will make it a point to come to what ever day is chosen.
You're awesome. I'm buying you two beers, at my first opportunity. Heck, that could just be at a Stifler's Mom show. :D

It was brought to my attention that I posted no times. Sorry, it was new year's eve and I was in a slight hurry. So on that note...

What time? Well, it depends on the day/location.

So, say the collective (mtbr/tgr) votes most heavily for gcb. Since gcb serves the last pitcher at 6, it would be best to start by 4. Wrigley's or Woody's, on the other hand, serves beer after the sun goes down. We could make the happy hour at 6 for those locations if the January 13th option is selected.

And for the weekend happy hour, it really could be at any time. Let's say 4 at all locations, preceded with weather-pending group ride.

In summation, the prospective times are as follows:

  • Jan 13th, GCB, 4 pm (GCB serves the last pitcher at 6, last pint at 630 and closes at 7)
  • Jan 13, Woody's/Wrigley's, 6pm
  • Jan 17th or 18th, all locations, 4pm

I would say out for the 13th at 4pm...Being a Tuesday that would exclude alot of folks who might want to come as thats not even bankers hours:p

Why not Ironworks on the 17th or 18th at 11am-12pm? Its a weekend and they've already proven they want us there...Pint to Pint and PBR's Tits rides and they've got good grub and beer. Once the meeting is through we can hit Green Mountain and if its too wet...ride the road to Zorro and hit Dakota Ridge. With it being a weekend , the promise of a ride and beer...who could resist? :D

Well, it's impossible to please everyone. :)

Two other establishments have been suggested since I've opened this poll. Please, please, please vote in the poll. If I open this up to every since beer-swilling establishment in JeffCO, my head is going to pop trying to make everyone happy, and no one wants to see my brain matter.

Again, there's no promise of a ride. The trails could be a muddy, gooshy mess. If we can ride, the ride will be at 1pm on a dry trail, followed by the happy hour.

I'm in agreement with Athalliah -- go with the poll and the riding of DRY trails! As far as the day & place -- I'm down for any mentioned in the poll.

That's not voting.

;)

Seriously, vote. Because if it's a split, I get the deciding vote, which means we will be going to GCB. Er, never mind, don't vote...:D

Alrighty I went with the Poll.

Reason I mentioned Ironworks is its within reasonable riding distance to the trail system that would be dry the quickest if any moisture hit. As well it would be reasonably empty like it was at Pint to Pint at 12pm. Remember how many we had there? Love to see that and more.

I've had a bad taste in my mouth for GCB since the Pint to Pint as they didn't really want us there in the 1st place and gave attitude to some of the riders once we were there.

All good, I'll flow where ever.

Thanks for understanding. I agree, it's fun to see a lot of friendly faces in the same place, that's why I'm trying my damnedest to put something together to celebrate a new future for mountain bike advocacy on the Front Range.

As to your other point; consider giving gcb another chance. The circumstances that surrounded that day were unusual; generally they have always been very accommodating of cyclists.

I say GCB, since there was lots of strategery planning by the new BOD there anyways. As for those that didn't like GCB for reasons... ...Sad, you should try going back when not in a mass.
I'm not fond of their brew. It gives me indigestion. But, it seems to be popular with the locals, even if it doesn't have a roof to sit under.

Does anyone know what the weekly gross is for them? I have an idea and a business plan I'm trying to put together. It involves two Golden establishments.

Yeah, but it should have a roof and some heat in the Winter. :D

I'm agreeing with schnauzers on way too regular a basis.

GCB's great, just not a practical venue, particularly in the dead of winter. When the sun sets at 5, and sunset = closing time.
