Wheel suggestions

I'm thinking of putting my old tricross fork on an old cannondale mtn bike frame and making it into a 69er singlespeed. does anyone have any 29" front wheel recommendations? i heard a rumor that there aren't any 9er specific rim brake wheels. should i use a cross wheel? will it be wide enough to run a sizable 9er tire? any recommendations will be appreciated.

Sounds nasty. You could use any 700c touring rim laced to any hub, or maybe something cheap like the Alex DM18 rim.
The Sun Rhyno Lite 29er rim is wide enough to run a fat tire and it's rim brake compatible. You should be able to get one built up for under $100 on a Shimano hub.

Can your old fork fit a sizable 9r tire? I don't know anything about the fork you mentioned, so I might just be out of the loop

When just toying around with it on my cross bike, I've put a stan's 29x2.0 raven on it and it fit just fine.
