I noticed today that when I first get on my bike it sounds like the spokes are 'pressurizing' and some will pop. Similar to the noise it makes when you squeeze them as if your checking thier tension where they cross (my wheels are laced what I call the 'normal' way).

Is this noise a concern? Non of them feel what I would consider loose, but since I am 210lbs I wanted to make sure before I kill a rim.

FYI the wheelset is the stock bontrager race that came on the 2008 Trek Fuel EX8.

I'm hardly an expert, but my guess is that the spokes are either inadequately tensioned or were not properly stress relieved when the wheel was built.

And no, the spokes should not pop when you get on the bike.

well the bike is about 1 year old now with probably near 200 miles on it. It may have always done it its that I just now noticed.

they run true and the spokes are not overly tight...maybe I will ask the shop to take a once over in a few weeks when I take it down to them before my Tsali trip.
