I'm building up a 24" wheelset for my 4x bike, i'm using the DT spoke calculator, however am a bit confused between the rounded and precise values..

For precise i'm getting:
le. 227.80 mm ri. 229.70 mm

I'm going to use 14mm nipples as i'm getting DT spokes from CRC, i've set this in the calculator and it's giving me le. 226 mm and ri. 228 mm. I've heard that tolerances are within +/- 1mm but surely this would be more when using longer nipples. I can only get hold of the spokes in 2mm increments, would you say these would be the best length spokes to order?

My next question is that the rear values are le. 229.10 mm and ri. 228.20 mm, would I get away with using the same spokes again? (228 for the left and 226 for the right)

Any help much appreciated!

You need to round each precise calculated length either up or down to the nearest length (even in your case) you can order. Do not round up or down more than 1.0 mm. You may end up with as many as four lengths to build your front and rear wheels.
For example (not using your calculated numbers):
Round 226.7 mm down to 226 mm
Round 227.6 mm up to 228 mm

I would round up to the next whole number, so 227 / 228. Dont know which DT spokes you are using, but lets say your using comps, they have an available range of 185-315. You should be able to order the spokes in the proper length, if not from your supplier, then use someone else as your supplier.

Cheers for the responses, i'm going to be using DT champion spokes which I can only get hold of in 2mm increments, and with 14mm nipples.

I just want to double check - the actual measurements supplied above are with standard 12mm nipples, do I take it that if I use 14mm nipples then I just subtract 2mm from the actual and round to within 1mm?

For example 227.8 would work out as 226mm and 229.7 would work out at 228 mm

That's not always how it works. Use the DT Swiss spoke calculator and see what their correction is when you choose 14mm nipples.
I'm sure you know that there are plenty of places that will sell you exact numbers of any length spoke you want and whatever nipple you want and ship them to your door, right?
