Since we have two odd days this weekend - Saturday the 31st and Sunday the 1st - are the bikers SOL? If you look at the JCOS calendar it is clear as mud. For July it has Saturday the 31st in red for hikers and Sunday blue for bikers. Then in August it has Saturday in blue for bikes and Sunday for hikers. I guess since both days are odd . . .
Dammit, we got hosed this year. :madman:

We had a weekend like that last year too.
On a related note, why the trail widening on the Robinson Hill TH side of the trail? It now looks 3 feet wide. When will Jeffco learn that skinnier trails breed fewer conflicts and are more fun to ride?

Jcos

Not sure what is up with JCOS, but they have been using the mechanical trail eater to build trail these days because I'm sure it's faster and easier to them. Take a look at what they did to Apex, they build dirt sidewalks instead of singletrack.

I don't agree with the use of the Swayco, but you can certainly build trail a lot faster. It would be cool if they made a smaller blade for the thing, but JeffCo has stated they would never build new trail under four feet wide.

And if it was actually the width of single track it might be intended for bikers and then all the other user groups would complain.

I rode that section last night and it was an eye sore, it looks awful!!!

They're just trying to get you used to riding on wider & wider trails... I saw their master plan a few days ago, they plan to have all of us riding on the roads by 2014...:D :D :D

Bikers have even days. You can't ever get screwed if you're a hiker. You can have 31/1 (bikers screwed), 30/1, 28/1. But the new month always begins on the 1st and weekend days are obviously back to back. You can never have 30/2, or 28/2. To be honest it should be flipped every year, just to keep it fair. Not sure if that's the case.

They used their trail sterilizer on the north side of Meadow View at Elk Meadow two or three weeks ago... it's a freeway now.
It was pretty much a freeway before...

At least they didn't dynamite out the two small rock outcrops that haunt the left side of the freeway.

I disagree. If trails were skinnier, there would be no questions or ambiguity about passing. Make it so someone has to stop to get around another and people will figure it out in no time. When a trail is excessively wide, speeds are higher and people think they don't need to yield because there is plenty of trail for both users. Making all trails at least 4 feet wide is extremely shortsighted and will breed more conflict. But, then, maybe Jeffco wants conflict to justify their own agenda.

All the videos I've seen lately of the trails at the resorts look like they are on average 6ft wide and everyone seems to be gushing about them with words like flow and butter. There isn't even anyone coming the opposite way on them and they make them that wide, lol. I can't believe the expectation of 8" wide singletrack on the jeffco suburban trails.:eek:ut:
