I've searched, googled, spoke to LBS, and even spoke to a 'techie' at Specialized... None produced any real answers. I just wanna know what, if any, the differences are between the two frames AND shock/brain?

Also, if there is a difference between the two years shock/brain can the 04 be replaced by an 05? Would the new 06 work/fit on the 04?

TIA:thumbsup:

'04 vs '05 Epic S-works

The '04 Epic S-Works was spec'd with a 80mm fork, and the '05 was spec'd with a 100mm travel fork. The Brain on the '05 is lighter than the '04's, and will fit. The '06 Brain is setup for 100mm travel in the rear, where the '04 and '05 were 90mm.

dubMON, thanks for the reply. This is the type of info i'm looking for! Now, you say the 05 Brain is 'lighter'... How? And is the shock in anyway different or lighter too? Also, I took a look at the archives and it appears that the 05's were spec'ed for both 80mm and 100mm. So, is it safe to assume that the 04 and 05 frames are the same with just the Brain/shock that's different?

I actually had both frames after my 2004 cracked I got the 2005. I weighed both and the 2005 was a half a pound lighter. Two things, the shock was lighter on the 2005 and the 2005 frame was ano, versus the painted 2004.
