Whats the deal with the Wilderness Legislation?

The current wording is "mechanized". And yes, it sucks. Funny, although they are also mechanized, the following are not banned: xc skis, modern snowshoes, horse saddles and bridles, trekking poles, etc. Call your congressional representatives, then go ride in the wilderness. Neither will help, but both will make you feel better.

Thats what I thought.

I spoke with Governor Tim Kaine this morning and he was under the impression it was 'motorized'
