2002 Specialized Rockhopper frame well cared for, no scratches, dents, etc
Older (yr?) blue Manitou fork, rebuilt (will post model as soon as I recall it)
Mavic Crossmax wheels
SRAM X9 drivetrain and shifters
Maxxis Larsen tires
Avid V-brakes and new levers
New Bonty bar and grips
RF cranks (I think) with new rings

The asking price is $550. I know the owner and know / trust the parts have been well cared for. Bike weighs in about 25lbs, which is perfect for the prospective rider who is a female and weighs about 115 lbs.

I think $550 is a bit steep, but knowing the bike's history and that it wasn't just thrown together with leftover bits that may not work next week is important. Also, I don't know that you'll find a bike with Crossmax and X9 for that, unless it's a close friend looking to ditch stuff.

Most anyone who sells a bike should be willing to part with $100 off asking price (unless they quote 'firm') IMO. I'd offer $450 and let him chew on it for a while. If he balks, negotiate up to 500 if you feel it's worth it. Personally I wouldn't spend $500 on a bike with V brakes.
