Today I saw what appeared to be a NON itinerant person ride by me as I stopped and adjusted a cable, with a larger dog in a milk crate on his rear carrier. This was on a paved county road that goes near my trail. Pretty far out from suburbia.
Normally I see riders going to/from the trail all the time.

For fun, what oddball thing has anyone seen?

4 friends and I once saw a barefoot woman in a summer dress pushing an empty baby stroller down a forest road in the middle of the night nowhere near any houses. It was around Halloween, so ghost jokes aplenty.

Riding across a utility right of way in the middle of nowhere came across two expensive Stihl chainsaws. Probably left by a line clearance company and later ran over by a flail mower cause they were pretty banged up. Not terribly exiting just an odd thing to find

Road biking on a semi rural road, I rounded a corner to see two younger dudes, near a car, all four doors open, looking in the trunk.

“Need any help?” They look at each other and say said no.

Next ride, after seeing that same car in the same place abandoned, I realized that it was a stolen vehicle they were going through.

They at least closed the doors and trunk.

Earlier this year we saw what we assumed to be grizzly bear claw marks on a tree. They were pretty fresh and upper set of them was about 7 feet off the ground. We didn't hang around too long.

I once rounded a corner on a downhill and saw too very attractive college age girls barely clothed taking photos of each other. Probably some Instagram thing.

Early in the pandemic, I came across three different trail users urinating on the trail in a single ride. One young lady had some choice words for her boyfriend for doing a piss-poor (ha!) job as a lookout.

To be fair, cyclists move so fast that trail pee-ers rarely have time to do anything. I came across some college girls dropping trou right in the open on a trail once.
Ive also come across an elderly couple making out on the trail, at least they were on a fairly remote side trail and they werent getting all hot and heavy so it was rather cute.
long time ago rode past a guy perched on top a large boulder sitting there with a guitar.

In 1985 I was going through training at the Naval Air Technical Training Command in Millington, Tennessee, which is just outside of Memphis. I spent many of my weekends exploring back roads on my bicycle. I am on this dirt road not too far from the Mississippi River and over the hill comes a huge pig just strolling down the middle of the road like it owns it. I moved to the side of the road as it goes by me and it oinks as it looks at me and just keeps going. I am standing there thinking how that is not something that you see every day and this 49 Chevy comes along going in the same direction as the pig had been going. It stops in front of me and there is this old lady driving with a boy in the passenger seat that looked about 14. It was like a scene out of Deliverance. With this long drawl, she asks me if I had seen a pig. I said yes and pointed down the road and said it is heading that way. She asks me why I did not stop it. I could not think of how to even begin to answer that and just said I don't know. She then drove off.

Heck, just the other day I was riding up a pretty well traveled fireroad and as I round a sharp bend, I see three college-age ladies laughing hysterically and pointing to something across the trail. As I pass by them, I turn to look at the object of their laughter only to see another young lady squatting just off trail with her panties around her knees and her lady bits on display. Poor thing was a shy pee-er. Lol.

Not sure if this is responsive to this thread, but a few weeks ago I met a young lady who was ripping a Canmore trail pretty impressively…with a chihuahua in her CamelBak! We stopped and chatted because my GF has a chihuahua with a warrior’s heart that we have been thinking about introducing to mountain biking in MY CamelBak! So, it is possible!

A fully manned and armed m1 Abrams tank crossing a road. Admittedly I was riding through camp Pendleton.

2 heavyset golfers (male) doing sex.

Used dildos and filthy panties in a pile.

A girl peeing in the middle of the trail.

An (almost) empty beer box with several tarantulas in it.

A Gila monster.

Mountain lions.

All of these in different places obviously and over a period of many years.

During a night ride. I saw a freshly dug shallow grave with the shovel still in the pile of dirt
How do you know it was shallow? Did you dig it up to see how deep?

The forest preserves where my usual trails are located are also well known for being hotspots for anonymous man sex. There is a whole system they use (apparently) involving the way they park and windows being down or up. So on certain trails you could ride into a surprise. I haven't seen this in a while though, I think they have moved away from the more frequently used areas (there is lots of preserve that is closed to bikes also).
