Check out Hunter Cycles -- http://huntercycles.com/ . Sweet steel frames, sliding drop-outs, cool design SS 29er (IMHO), good prices, and Rick is 6'6" so he knows how to design for tall guys.
If you can settle for a light, racy alu frame, Specialized sells the Stumpjumper frames separate and I believe they even have stock sizes with over 26" ETT. I know you're looking for steel though; just throwing out options.tribune said:I'm looking for a pretty specific single speed frame and I'm wondering if I need to go the custom route or if I can save a few bucks and get a manufactuered frame.
Basically I am tired of my Niner single speed and want to get a horizontal sliding drop out design, 29er, steel, single speed specific frame (no cable guides), disc brake only, that comes in a 25"-ish virtual top tube (I am 6'4" and equally proportioned legs/arms). I noticed many frame manufactuers, ie vassagocycles, don't have a large enough frame for me. I also need something extra strong, I broke my last frame and am extremely rough on everything I own.
Thanks
Ooh, good call. I know they aren't SS specific (how many frames really are?), but I remember them saying the process leaves room for some customization right nowcanyonrider said:The new steel version of the Misfit Psycles Dissent meets all of your criteria.
Huh, guess I missed that. Not what I would want, but very coolcanyonrider said:Actually, I think the dissent is SS specific unless you order otherwise, i.e., no derailleur cable stops or hanger.
