Maybe I'm judging too harshly, but this kind of thing really burns me up.
The weather finally relented enough that I was able to get out on a real ride yesterday on some lower, south facing slopes. It felt really good to get out of the house and off the trainer eventhough I still had to hike-a-bike through some deeper snow drifts and was limited to riding what the trucks and quads had packed down.
As I was working my way down a fun pole-line trail my packed tracks ended but I noticed a cross road which was pretty well packed down heading up a hill that's a dead end and normally too loose to ride in dry weather anyway. So I started climbing.
It felt good. Well-packed snow mix with some dry spots makes for great traction. All the time I'm going up this hill I'm wondering who had come up here and why. They'd obviously made more than one trip. I knew the road would eventually get too steep and the snow too deep for the truck and he'd have to turn around.
When I got to the turn around spot I found the reason. Someone had been dumping trash up there. What????? This spot is literally in view of the county landfill just down the hill!! There's not even any fee for taking household waste to the landfull!! This kind of stupidity just fries me.
I went back up with my truck and my eight year old son later that day and picked up the trash and took it to the landfill. While I was picking stuff up I found some catalogs and envelopes with names and addresses on them. What should I do to help his person understand this is W-R-O-N-G, wrong?
