I recently rebuilt my hubs for the first time and used an all purpose bike grease which was really tacky. About a week later I heard some grinding in my hub, took it apart and it appeared as all of the grease that I put in the bearing race migrated to the axle and the bearings were running without much lube.

Is there a specific recommended type of grease to use when rebuilding hubs?

Any general advice?
