How can I determine the maximum travel fork that I can have on my bike? People say that if you use a fork with x amount of travel, it will throw off the geometry be unsafe. Well my bike has a crappy RockShox Dart 1, and I am looking to upgrade....bigtime. I found a Marzocchi fork on sale from $854.99 to $299.99 and want to know if I can use it.

You should try to keep the axle-to-crown measurement pretty close. The rule of thumb is that if you increase your fork length 1", it will slacken the head tube angle by 1 degree. Bottom line, it will probably feel different when you put it on, but given a some time, you will get used to whatever you're riding.
