What about Spring Mt?

This past fall, of 2010, Launch Bike Park opened; http://www.springmountainadventures.com/newsmore.php?id=82&vis=1
With the death of our beloved Blue Mt, which by the way, is a massive blow to our community. Feels like it is setting us back big-time. Will Spring Mountain pick up the slack and offer at least weekend operation? Does anyone know? I did call Spring Mt today, however, due to rain, they are closed.

Thanks:thumbsup:
Ben

According to Launch's Facebook they will have a meeting March 8 to work out the details of the upcoming season. I talked to some folks at Ray's last weekend from Philly who are ready to do some work. Sounds promising!
Crossing my fingers right now, but I'm under contract to buy a house that is a five minute walk from the lift.....

:D

Hey Mark, its Ben! We gotta get out together sometime. We're opening a new location for Bunny Hop Bikes, actually, today is start of move into our location on West Grant Street. It runs parrallel to King St.
I will be at the meeting march 8th. Nothing is set in stone but it looks promising.
That looks great! Can't wait to hit that:thumbsup:
Hey Ben!
We definitely need to ride together this summer! I see heavy doses of Spring Mountain and York skatepark in my future. Give me a shout sometime;)
Congrats on the new location Ben. Can't wait to see it.
Can't wait to see what Spring will have to offer this year as well.

Eric, thanks:thumbsup: Here is a crappy phone pic I took saturday. Spent saturday, with much appreciated help from a few people, working on getting it cleaned and ready for paint. It looks quite rough now, but, it is a vast improvement from even a week ago. We have quite a lot to do yet, but, its coming along.

i mentioned this to the guys last year and i think they're gonna work on it. hopefully something fast & flowy on the ski runs (not in between in the trees where it's nothing but rocks).

For what it's worth, nice stuff can be made in the trees - there's lots of good stuff like that at Diablo and Plattekill from my limited experience. Rocks are part of DH, I think. ;^)
Rocks are a part of DH but to create a successful run you have a mix of everything, from flow, speed to drops doubles etc, just because you have a mtn to work with is not a given as to DH race friendly runs.
Does anyone know if you're gonna have to carry your bike while in the chair like last year? That was the only thing keeping me from checking it out last year - I just don't know if I'm coordinated enough or strong enough to do that with a 46 pound bike.

seriously? you didnt go b/c they didnt have bike hooks?
that lift is ancient enough i think i'm more comfortable holding my bike in my lap!
although a couple of the chairs did have hooks.

i think the main thing spring will have to overcome is it's diminutive size. maybe they'll open up to the bigger part of the mtn, cuz at this point it's fun but if they make some legit DH trails you'll be at the bottom before you know it.
