Hi, was looking at this rock shox fork for my marlin 5, which has a 1 1/18 headset, but the only option available was straight and I’m not really sure what was meant by this, thanks!

edit: also not sure of the axel I could use with it

That is likely the type of fork you are looking for. Straight means the steerer tube is 1 1/8” from top to bottom. The axle is a 9mm QR dropout.

These days there are 2 main options for fork steerers a straight 1 1/8, and a 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 taper.

For axles the are qr and through axles, the one pictured is a qr.

Above is correct...
Straight Steerer = Steerer tube being 1 1/8" over the total lenght
Tapered Steerer = Steerer tube being 1 1/2" at bottom (crown) and tapering up to 1 1/8" for the top section.

Most modern bikes have switched over to the tapered steerer tube headtube/set on their frames in the last 5 or so years. Older than that really depended on what type of bike you were riding.
