I'm thinking the seller has it wrong. http://cgi.ebay.com/Used-1996-Speci...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:4|65:1|39:1|240:1318

I thought most, if not all, of their frames were made in Taiwan.

Yes, all the Sworks M2-M4 frames were made in Portland Oregon. The OG epics (carbon ti) were even made in a building Specialized owned.

That rockhoper sure was made in Taiwan though...

That's a Taiwanese frame. Funny that the seller got it wrong, seeing as they have a close-up pic of the "Designed in California, made in Taiwan" sticker!

Maybe he confused "assembled in the US" with "made in the US." I never really paid attention to whether Specialized imported their bikes assemebled or did the assembly in CA.
My '95 StumpJumper M2 FS (non-Sworks) was also made in the U.S.
The carbon lugged mountain frames were made in Morgan Hill as well.
