Seven days without Power, Phone, Cable and a Vehicle to Drive.... all bearable with the exception of the cable thing! yeah joy joy we have power, the greatest gift! got it two days before Christmas... the week before we had a huge ice storm hit our area, and we got hit pretty hard. i was out trying to move our cars as the bigass oak trees above started coming down. saved my wifes truck, but the ShortBus took a direct hit.

I'll post more when i get Cable back! Dial up is Killing me!

Dangerous too, falling branches or electrocution! Did you have enough passion to ride?

Bad situation

Glad to hear that you and the family are OK though. My parents don't live that far from you and they were hit by the same storm. Fortunately they were only without power for 1 day.

Here's to hoping all goes well with the insurance.

Hell ya! took the Banshelope out for a ride for an Early Christmas Eve ride, me and a buddy went up to NC and there was little or no damage from the storm. It was fun riding the frozen ruts of once muddy trails... and the ice gave new meaning to slickrock riding.

Ouch! I was over in Spartanburg on the Wofford campus the day after that storm hit. Seemed like 2 of every 3 trees had limbs down. Definitely not a good storm to be outside in.

Guess i'll have to take back the previous statment, sorry the mini bus got scrunched. Guess the bright side is you saved the wifes truck. Arnt Banshelope considered endangered? lucky no pochers out that day.
Hope you dont have problems with insurance on the repairs.
Merry aftr X-mass :)

Same thing happened to me...

tree fell down, took power cables right off the house and the tree landed on the trucks windshielf/hood. I went without power for 7 days but at elast i had a generator. I was still able to drive the truck but the cost of fixing it, because it was declared an act of god..came outta the pocket...

Your right that DOES...SUCK.. Happy new year.

Holy bad luck!! At least everyone is safe. Hope you got some good ice pictures.

I've had a miserable two weeks with illness. But at least I had internet!! Xbox and DVDs were ok too.

Don't fix the bus Brado. It will look like a truck now. The mountains got off easy! THIS time. In the "Cold" pic - is that toy antlers or those things I hear the snow mobile folks put on their handlebars like muffs?

You guys get all the fun bike stuff. I only got some inner tubes.

;)

(Sorry to hear you had a sickie holiday Mr. F)

That Sucks!

Looks like ya'll are having colder weather down there than I am in WA. That sucks though to see the "Cool Bus" go out like that. How extensive is the damage? Well despite, your recent run of bad luck, have a great day and happy new year! Later man....

Hey Mike glad to hear you're finally home! now i have a Whistler connection! be shipping you the bike soon! (not Brown) hey man you need to meet up with us when we road trip out to Fruita this Spring! gimme a call!

The ShortBus is pretty tough! what sucks is every bodyshop in town is slammed with damaged cars, and the one we chose, isn't taking vehicles until after the 15th, then I am sure it'll be a couple of weeks before repaired..... It's driveable, but the windshield is busted pretty bad, had a glass-repair guy out, no such luck! To replace the windshield he needed to open the hood, and it's crushed pretty bad where the hinge is on the drivers side, and it wouldn't budge.

yeah just grateful that i wasn't in it when it happened... friend down the street took a direct hit to the cab of his truck while he was driving.

That looks awful

I live near 'downtown' Greer and the local public works luckily cut back all kinds of trees last year from the power lines so we never lost power. I had some family that did staying with me. My dad lives in the middle of all kinds of pine trees so they took off for Asheville as soon as they started breaking. He had to chop his way back up the driveway and they didn't have power for four days.
Good luck on getting the Short Bus fixed.
