Less than 30 miles on my reentry into bicycling and on my new Salsa Timberjack......Stupidest thing, I stopped to take a short break next to the Aqua Fria river which still has water flowing in July (kind of rare in AZ)and drink a bit of water. As I was starting up again and had just started moving, a loose rock threw my front wheel to the left and that was all she wrote.........

I landed hard on a rock with my right shoulder.....Went to the VA emergency room and nothing broken

Hopefully, I can have a new Alternator dropout and derailleur here by the time my shoulder heals.....

PS Looks worse than it really is....I take blood thinners....I bleed a LOT.....

Derailleur was in the spokes. Got it bent out enough to ride, but it is making some unpleasant noises. New dropout for sure and 90% sure needs a new derailleur....

Flats....it happened so fast I didn't have time to react...I did try to turn my back to the rock and sacrifice the water bladder to cushion the fall, but didn't make it (at 66, my reaction times/flexibility are not what they used to be......
